Today, dearest, every instant, Fills with birdsong near and distant.
As they sit in pairs in the grove, They look at each other with love.
Drunk with the nectar of youth, They thrill again and again, forsooth
As passion slowly numbs all feeling, They faint with unbearable longing,
Says Radha.

Today a honey hued moon rises, My heart sways ecstatic, All rules and bonds slacken.
Shame does not restrict my expression, Words are spoken softly with feeling.
The air trembles with thrill. The fever makes my body shiver, In the midst of the flowers of the forest,
Says Radha.

The breeze blows gently here and there I can barely move another step further
My words stumble as my breath catches My veil trails behind me neglected.
The half opened lotus looks on, Its petals ruffled by the breeze.
Half opened eyes drunk with love, I can barely look upon my surroundings.
The flowers I tucked in my hair, Gently fall on my cheeks and face.
Heated by the sweet breeze, They cast themselves about my feet.
A gentle rain of blossom upon my head As the Yamuna flows.
The moon smiles as it looks down, The sun sets at the end of the day

- Rabindranath Tagore

Brinda, the collection draws inspiration from the divine connection between the soul and the supreme, embodying the essence of bhakti—a heartfelt devotion that transcends the physical and speaks directly to the spirit. It captures the pure, selfless love of Radha for Krishna, symbolizing peace, joy, and an eternal longing for union with the divine.

Rooted in the timeless beauty of Pichwai paintings from Rajasthan, which are traditionally dedicated to Srinath Ji, this collection translates the intricate art of devotion into wearable forms. Just as Radha sees Krishna through her heart, our designs celebrate the union of love, art, and spirituality, reminding us that true peace is found when the soul aligns with its divine purpose.

This is a collection of inner harmony, devotion, and timeless grace—an ode to Krishna, as seen through Radha’s eyes.

KAMDHENU

Rooted in the profound philosophy of Pichwai paintings from Rajasthan, our Brinda Collection celebrates the union of craft, devotion, and soulful artistry. The first design features intricate Kantha work, a traditional craft of Bengal, creating a beautiful amalgamation of Eastern and Western heritage.

Inspired by Kamdhenu—the celestial cow, this design symbolizes a journey of love and devotion, flowing freely toward the divine. The collection reflects the soul’s quest for peace and spiritual connection, portraying the inner harmony found in devotion.

SRINATH

The art of Pichwai, centered around Srinath Ji (a form of Lord Krishna), is adorned with symbolic elements like Kamdhenu, peacocks and lotus flowers.

In this saree, we have beautifully woven the blessings of Srinath Ji across the body, arranged in intricate box motifs, reflecting devotion and divine grace in every detail.

We’ve beautifully reinterpreted the traditional artistry of Rajasthan through Kantha stitch, a cherished craft of Bengal, creating a seamless blend of East and West. At Gulmohar, we’ve worked extensively with handwoven Jamdani and occasionally with Kantha, but this marks our first dedicated capsule collection focusing entirely on Kantha craftsmanship—a tribute to timeless tradition and artistry.
