1. What measurement do you follow and how to select the dress from your size chart?
To select the right dress size from GULMOHAR, you should follow their size chart based on key measurements like bust, waist, and hips. Here's how you can do it:
Bust Measurement: Measure around the fullest part of your bust, making sure the measuring tape is level across your back and shoulders.
Waist Measurement: Measure around the narrowest part of your waist, typically just above your belly button.
Hip Measurement: Measure around the fullest part of your hips, usually around 8-9 inches below your waist.
Once you have these measurements, compare them to the GULMOHAR size chart, which typically includes sizes like Small (S), Medium (M), Large (L) etc. Look for the size that corresponds closest to your measurements for the best fit.
Example:
If your bust is 38 inches, waist is 34 inches, and hips are 43 inches, you might fall into the "Medium" size range. Always check the specific chart provided by GULMOHAR, as sizing can vary slightly by brand.
If you're between sizes, it's often a good idea to size up for more comfort or down for a closer fit, depending on the style of the dress (e.g., fitted vs. relaxed).

3. What does cotton count exactly mean and what is the speciality of Gulmohar cotton products?
The term "cotton count" refers to the thickness or fineness of cotton yarn used in the fabric. It is a system that measures the number of hanks (a unit of measurement for yarn length) of cotton that make up one pound of weight. The higher the cotton count, the finer the yarn, meaning the fabric will be softer, lighter, and smoother.
Specialty of Gulmohar Cotton Products:
Gulmohar is known for using high-quality cotton in their products, which gives our clothing a few distinct advantages:
Premium Softness and Comfort: Gulmohar cotton products are often made from fine, high-count cotton that is soft against the skin and breathable, making them ideal for everyday wear in warm or humid climates.
Eco-Friendly: Gulmohar emphasises using sustainable, natural cotton fibres, ensuring that our cotton products are more environmentally friendly compared to synthetics.
Breathability: Cotton naturally allows air to flow through, which helps to keep you cool and comfortable, especially in the summer or during physical activities.
Variety in Styles and Weaves: Gulmohar cotton products come in a variety of weaves and textures offering a diverse range of fabrics suited for different needs (from casual wear to more formal styles).
4. Are these products made on hand ; what are the steps ? And why it takes time to process from fabric to piece of clothing ?
Gulmohar products, particularly if you're referring to our Jamdani collection, are often made with traditional handloom techniques, including handwoven methods.
Steps of Jamdani Weaving:
Design Planning: The design for the fabric is first sketched by the artisan, often using traditional motifs like flowers, geometric patterns, or paisleys. This design is then translated into a paper pattern (or graph), which guides the weaving process.
Thread Dying: Thread dyeing is an essential process in textile manufacturing where yarns or threads are dyed before they are woven or knitted into fabric. This process ensures that the final fabric has consistent colour and can be crafted into intricate patterns, especially in handwoven textiles(like Jamdani).
Warping: The warp threads (the longitudinal threads that run vertically) are prepared by winding them onto a loom. This process can take several hours, as the threads are arranged carefully to ensure the right tension for weaving.
Threading the Loom: The warp threads are passed through the loom. In traditional Jamdani weaving, the loom is often a handloom, where the artisan manually controls the weaving process.
Weaving:
Weaving the Weft: The weft threads (horizontal threads) are manually inserted into the warp threads. This is where the Jamdani technique shines. The artisan inserts extra threads to create patterns, sometimes using multiple wefts in a single row to form intricate designs. These threads are woven intermittently to create the distinctive brocade effect on the fabric.
Weft Inlaying (Jamdani work): For decorative elements, the weft threads float over multiple warp threads or are “dropped” to form detailed patterns. These patterns are created directly on the loom, often without using any machines, making the process the most time-consuming and labour-intensive.
Finishing: After the weaving is complete, the fabric is washed to remove any starch or impurities. The fabric may also be pressed and finished to give it a smooth, crisp feel.
Cutting and Stitching: Once the fabric is ready, it is cut into the required shapes and sizes for garments. The stitching process is done by hand or by machine, depending on the garment type.
